Clare Fox and Wayne Maki met and founded Mutual Adoration in 2012. Mutual Adoration builds custom furniture, picture frames, and housewares, primarily from reclaimed wood sourced in Detroit. In 2017 we founded POST - an open concept retail store and workshop space on Detroit's east side. Housed in a 1940’s US Post Office, POST carries a huge variety of handmade goods from small independent makers, as well as offering hands-on workshops in contemporary craft. 

The Upperow Luxury Fashion House offers cut & sew classy, upscale, versatile, and exclusive clothing for men, women, and children. This brand was created out of a need to find exclusive clothing for the founding family, who would often desire to wear upscale apparel to events but would have a hard time finding exactly what they wanted.

Often described as a little oasis in the Cass Corridor neighborhood of Midtown Detroit, Tulani Rose is a lifestyle gift boutique that features handcrafted gifts for the home, body, and spirit with an emphasis on products that promote self-care, healing, and wellness.

Pewabic is a National Historic Landmark pottery founded in Detroit in 1903. Today it continues to be an architectural tile studio and educational space that remains a vibrant cultural destination attracting visitors from around the world.

16 years ago Olayami Dabls came to the corner of Grand River and West Grand Blvd with a vision to create a space for his community to understand the immense power of their African heritage. 

Occupying almost an entire city block, the MBAD African Bead Museum houses 18 outdoor installations as well as the African Bead Gallery, N'kisi House and African Language Wall. Born of his own visual cosmology, Dabls' MBAD African Bead Museum is a quiet revolution that sparks a vital conversation with global and local audiences.  

Based in the Northwest Neighborhood of Detroit, Norwest Gallery of Art is dedicated to contemporary art with a curatorial focus on African and African-American Art. As Detroit's newest art venue, we seek to gain prominence by being recognized for featuring visually and intellectually intriguing works of art. We view art as a visual representation of what the soul yearns to express and we are committed to promoting artistic works that provide an engaging and explosive voice. Our goal is to maintain a high level of excellence, while providing our audience with the highest caliber of art locally, nationally and internationally.
